Dunda Ivanka Pakozdy

It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, Oma, and friend, Dunda Ivanka Pakozdy, on December 22, 2025, at the age of 93.

Dunda was born on March 23, 1932, in Zagreb, Croatia. In 1956, she married the love of her life, Božidar Pakozdy, in Vienna, Austria. Together, with remarkable courage, resilience, and hope for the future, they immigrated to Canada to build a new life. Their journey was marked by sacrifice, hard work, and unwavering devotion to one another.

They first settled in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, where they built a loving home and raised their family, before later relocating to Coquitlam to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Dunda is predeceased by her devoted husband of 65 years, Božidar; her parents, Mijo and Slavica Krcelic; and her sisters, Angela, Darinka, Zdenka, and Mira.

She will be forever cherished and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Natalie (Gordie); her son, Frankie (Janet); and her treasured granddaughters, Elexa and Janay, who were truly the light of her life. She will also be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews in Croatia, as well as the many friends and extended family whose lives she touched through her warmth, generosity, and love.

Dunda’s legacy lives on in the stories she shared, the traditions she passed down, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering devotion to her family, and the strength that carried her through every chapter of her life.

A Funeral Mass will be held on January 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Church, located at 2250 150th Street, Surrey, BC, V4A 9J3. A reception will follow the Mass in the Church Reception Hall.
