MULLIGAN, Edith (“Edie”) May (nee Erickson)
September 22, 1925 – August 19, 2024
Our dear Mom, Edith, passed to the next life peacefully. She is likely dancing with Dad Durack who predeceased her in 2008. Have a cup of tea to celebrate her life.
She was born in Calgary, Alberta to Arthur and Ada (nee Grime) Erickson, the fourth child with siblings Jim, Art, Irene, “Baby Gordie”, all who have predeceased her. Her school years were spent in her beloved Banff. With Dad, they raised their family in Calgary, moving to Vancouver in 1959. They retired to Nanaimo, BC in 1985, continuing their volunteering. Our thanks to our brother Tim and sister-in-law Teresa for having her live with them in Port Alberni from 2010 to 2015.
She is survived by her “5 boys” Gordon (Lynda), Daniel (Eileen Garcia), Michael (Cindy), Tim (Teresa) and Brian (Yumi Iwama). “Grandma Edie” leaves a legacy of 14 grandchildren, many with spouses, and 17 great grandchildren. Also, as Auntie Edie and Edie, she is loved by many family and friends.
Our thanks go out to the staff at Chartwell Churchill House where she lived from 2015 to 2020. In addition, the family offers our deepest gratitude to all the staff at Inglewood Care Centre who gave her such wonderful care and support particularly in the latter years, days and hours.
A funeral liturgy is being held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 599 Keith Rd, West Vancouver, BC on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the adjacent hall. The service will be online. Our appreciation goes to Christ the Redeemer and Burquitlam Funeral Home for all the arrangements.
She will be taken to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Calgary, AB for inurnment with our Dad on September 21, 2024.
Of course, you know what her last words were: “I love you all, yum, yum”.
