FOULDS, Elsley Wellington
Born March 15, 1921 in Kinistino, Saskatchewan, Elsley passed away peacefully at home under the loving care of his wife, Abigail (Yetty) on March 19, 2015, at the age of 94. He was predeceased by his daughter and is survived by Yetty, his wife of 69 years, nine children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one brother.
Elsley was a WWII D-Day Veteran; when in Holland he met and married Yetty, the love of his life. They lived in Saskatchewan before moving to Coquitlam in 1947. He was involved in his children's sports and activities and held active roles within his church. In the latter part of his life he joined the Coquitlam Legion where he was the Service Officer for 17 years. During this time he received numerous medals, commendations and awards - most recently the Medal of Honour, the highest recognition from France. Elsley was an avid gardener and enjoyed travelling. During the many trips he took to Europe, he always honoured those soldiers left behind by visiting their graves and leaving a Canadian flag and poppy.
Memorial Service will be held on March 30, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Anglican Church, 121 East Columbia Street, New Westminster, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Canadian Lung Cancer Association.
