Florence Eva Steckler

Flo Steckler passed away on June 30, 2026 at 94, comfortably and peacefully. She joins her beloved husband George, who passed away in 2009, and is survived by her four children Melanie, Gerry, Don and Byron, their families, her seven grandchildren and her three great-grandchildren.

Nothing made Flo happier than to spend time with her family, and she was filled with feisty spirit and joy to her last days.

Florence was born near the family farm in Bruno, Saskatchewan, but heaven help anyone who called her Florence instead of Flo. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and “GG” to her great-grandchildren.

An avid bridge player, crossword lover, Nanaimo bar expert, and salt and pepper shaker collector, Flo and George raised their family across B.C. before settling in the Lower Mainland, where they spent many happy years in Vancouver, Abbotsford and Coquitlam.

Thanks to the wonderful staff at Dufferin Care Centre in Coquitlam for their care of Flo through her last years.

Her family will miss her always, and encourages you to raise a (stemmed) glass of champagne in her honour. A private celebration of Flo’s life will take place in September for family and friends.
