Florence Wynn

November 4, 1924 — November 5, 2014

Wynn, Florence (nee Montgomery)

Passed away at Laurel Place Hospice, Surrey, on November 5, 2014. Predeceased by her husband Bob, daughter Wendi and sister Jessie.

Flo was loved and will be missed by her sister Louise Bowes. Also survived by her children: son-in-law Barry, Monty (Tricia), Stevie, and Terry (Tony).

Flo was cherished by her 9 grandchildren: Cam, Melanie (Rob); Marcia (Jeff), Erica (Mark); Peter (Kristie), Jennifer (Cheryl), Mike (Kristina); Carly (Brad) and Blake (Vanessa).

Flo was blessed with 14 great grandchildren: Lillia, Chloe, Eve; Gracie, Jonas; Kylie, Andrew, Robert; Julia, Katie; Holden, Bodie, Grier; and Avery.

Flo’s first job was at Kresge’s in New Westminster. Upon meeting and marrying Bob in 1946, the newlyweds spent their next 5 years in the Northwest Territories where they worked at a family run logging camp. Their adventures in the north stayed with Flo and were shared with her family.

Three of their four children were born while up north, with their fourth child arriving during their brief stay in Edmonton. They then moved to South Burnaby where they raised their four children over the next 23 years. While raising their family Flo worked at Nabob Foods for almost 35 years.

Family meant everything to Flo. Many weekends were spent watching her grandchildren’s band and dance recitals, concerts and various sporting events. Family birthdays were always special occasions, as well as Easter and Thanksgiving, but Christmas was Flo’s favourite holiday. Christmas at the Wynn house was always a wonderfully festive occasion with decorations everywhere.

Flo enjoyed travelling with Bob and in later years with her sister Louise. Her last 40 years were spent in North Delta and Surrey.

Flo will be fondly remembered as a loyal and trusted friend, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sadly missed, always loved.

Our sincere thanks to the team at Laurel Place Hospice for their care and support.

An Open House to celebrate Flo’s life will be held on Sunday, November 23 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Guildford Marquis 15030 - 101st Ave., Surrey, BC. Flowers gratefully declined in favour of donations to the Douglas College Foundation - Jessie Fenton bursary, or to a charity of your choice.
