Frankie Balletta, age 36, of Coquitlam, British Columbia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026.
He is survived by his parents, Franco and Melanie; his sister, Filomena; his brother-in-law, Angelo; his nephew, Massimo; his niece, Mia; and his large extended family, all of whom meant the world to him.
He showed incredible strength, courage, and determination throughout his battle with cancer. But what defined him most was his gentle soul—full of kindness, warmth, and love. He had a rare way of making everyone feel important and built friendships wherever he went. We pray that his legacy of love, honesty, and closeness to family continues to live on in all those who knew him. His presence was a gift that will never be forgotten.
Frankie had a deep love for the family business, British Hydraulics. It was a huge part of his life and something he poured his heart into every day. He was known for his strong work ethic, his attention to detail, and the genuine connections he built with his co-workers and customers—many of whom became like family.
A special thank you to the BC Cancer Clinic in Vancouver, especially Dr. Karen Goddard, who has stood by Frankie every step of the way since he was just three years old. We are also grateful to his recent care team, Dr. Rebecca Harrison and Dr. Cristina Alzate Gomez, for their compassion and dedication.
A very special thank you to the incredible staff of the Palliative Care Unit on the 14th floor at Vancouver General Hospital, whose kindness, comfort, and care meant more to our family than words can express.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 555 Slocan Street, Vancouver, BC V5K 2B7. The Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 1:30 PM at the same location.
