She spent her growing up years in the company of numerous cousins , Aunts and Uncles and lifelong friends . With whom she laughed and made beautiful memories of family and life in Malta .
In January of 1957 she married the love of her life , her beloved husband of the past 66 years :Spiro who returned to Malta from Canada (having emigrated in 1951 ) in December of 1956 to marry his fiancée at Sacre Coure Parish in Sliema .

They moved to British Columbia with their daughter and family in 2001.
Giovanna worked in several jobs including at Allanson Manufacturing in East York and was also a valued employee of Morse Jewellers.
In 1970 she became an employee of the then Scarborough Public School Board as. Caretaker . She was a dedicated , loyal and highly respected and hard working member of staff . She retired with great celebration from the Board after over 30 years of service .
Giovanna was also a loving and devout Catholic . In her life she dedicated herself to many ministries in her parish . Whether it was taking orders for baked goods for parish bazaars or knitting and crocheting blankets for charity , making rosaries or conducting prayers : she did so with great love of neighbour .
Her lasting legacies are also her most valued treasures : her family .
Along with her husband Spiro she leaves behind
her only daughter Anna ( Bill) and 5 grandchildren whom she helped to raise and loved more than life : Jennifer (Nathaniel) , Michelle (Adam) , Michael , Teresa and Jessica . Including many beloved nieces and nephews who treasured Zija Gianna in the Zammit family .
In lieu of flowers we ask you to consider donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, or Masses for the Repose of her Soul .
All we learned about love , faith , devotion and sacrifice : we owe to our Wife, Mother and Nanna. Until we see you again in Heaven .
