Idiko Knezy

Coquitlam

Lord, help me to bring comfort where there is pain,

Courage where there is despair,

Acceptance when the end is near,

A touch gentle with tenderness, patience, and love.

And now, Lord, as her shift ends,

Receive her into Your loving arms,

For she has served Your children well.

Ildiko Knezy, 78, of Coquitlam, British Columbia, passed away peacefully at Eagle Ridge Hospital surrounded by her loving family on March 12, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on December 7, 1947, in Novi Sad Yugoslavia, Ildiko was the daughter of the late Geza and Sarlota Grizer. She graduated from Nursing School in 1966 and while studying met Andras Knezy who would be her husband. She moved to Canada to be with Andras after he left looking for greater opportunities. Ildiko dedicated 50 years to Nursing in extended and palliative care, where she cared for thousands of people at Queen’s park and Eagle Ridge Hospital. She exemplified what a nurse does and was a mentor to those she worked with.

Together, they raised two children and enjoyed a life full of adventure and love. Ildiko was an avid gardener, a talented petty point artist, and an avid Vancouver Canucks fan.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Susie Grizer of Princeton, BC; her children, Csaba Knezy and his wife, Domenica, of Vancouver, BC, and Attila Knezy and his wife, Sheila, of Port Coquitlam, BC; her grandchildren, Amanda, Adriano, Sheldon, Taryn, and Ashlyn; and dear friends.

A celebration of Ildiko’s life will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 27, at Our Lady of Hungary Parish, Vancouver BC. The family will receive friends from 10;00am until the time of service at the church. Following the service, a small gathering will be had at the church before the cemetery service at Robinson Cemetery in Coquitlam

In lieu of flowers, they also request that donations be made to the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation.

Ildiko’s kind spirit, generosity, and compassion touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by her family, many friends, and all who knew her.
