We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our father, Ignacio Cruz Sr., on April 8th, 2014. Survived by his loving wife Judy, children Margo, Elizabeth and John, and grandchildren Matthew, Eva, Sofia and Catalina.
Ignacio began his life in San Gabriel, Philippines as the third oldest child out of seven children. He met his wife, Judy, through family and friends in the same town, and they married in 1976. Ignacio and his family moved to Fairfax County, Virginia in 1984 to begin a new life and to seek better opportunities for his children. A few years later, in 1989, Ignacio and his family decided to move to Canada. Vancouver, British Columbia, would be the city they would all come to love and call their home.
Ignacio will always be remembered as a man of few words; but when he spoke it was always with great meaning. He was loved for his sense of humour, his patience and his gentle nature. Ignacio loved to listen to music, to dance and to watch sports and movies. What he cherished most was the time spent with family and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank those who had touched his life and provided unconditional support, friendship and love throughout his years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
