Isabel Shinkle

August 17, 1923 — July 15, 2021

Ann Carson Shinkle
Born in England August 17, 1923, Ann came to Canada with Peter Carson, after WWII.
Mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother, Ann was always there for her family. She had a kind heart, an unrelenting artistic eye, a green thumb and an ability to make any house a warm and welcoming place to be.
Ann had a sense of style and sophistication warmed by a wry sense of humour. She played tennis into her 80’s with both Peter and then Bob Shinkle who came into her life after Peter passed away in 1990.
Ann worked briefly in the traditional sense when the Condo predictably leaked and needed expensive repairs but she contributed to her community throughout her life in various capacities.
Ann worked in the Land Army during the war dealing with rampant bulls and cantankerous farmers. She studied art at the Agnes Etherington Centre in Kingston and considered leaving the family to follow her passion. She took calls on the Crisis Line during its early days in Vancouver. She manned the Hortline for the UBC Botanical Gardens. She was a docent for the Vancouver Art Gallery. Throughout it all she painted, gardened and cared for her family who will so miss her loving spirit in their lives.
She is survived by her daughters, Joanna Carson and Kate Judge and son, Christopher Carson, granddaughters Lucy Carson, Meghan Judge, Fiona Judge grandsons, Jacob Carson, Jeremy Carson and Patrick Judge, and great granddaughters Sophie Carson, Kalina Carson and Isabelle Nelson, great grandson Leo Carson.
