Iva Mildred Viola Hachkevich, 86, passed away on Monday, July 22 2013 at Fellburn Care Centre in Burnaby B.C. She was born on May 7, 1927 in Macoun Saskatchewan to Roy Gjerdrum and Olga Amanda (Wickstrom]) [Jarmann].
Iva grew up in Macoun Saskatchewan. She graduated from Estevan Collegiate Institute in Estevan in 1945. After high school she: graduated as a certified mental health nurse in Weyburn Saskatchewan where she received a diploma. In 1958 she moved to British Columbia and began working for Woodlands Institution as a nurse where she worked for many years before retiring.
Iva married Bernard Hachkevich in 1955 in Weyburn, Saskachewan. They were happily married for 27 years.
Iva was a member of Wilson Centre. She enjoyed music, sewing and spending time with her family.
Iva was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Hachkevich, Sisters; Irene Hunt and Frances Buck, parents; Roy Jarmann, and Amanda Jarmann and children; Roy Hachkevich, and Gregory Hachkevich.
Iva is survived by her Grandchildren; Iva Marie, Mya, and Fredrick of Port Coquitlam B.C.; Her Daughter in law Vena Hachkevich of Prince Rupert B.C.; Her sister Orma Giles of Washington, and sister Thelma Estep of Alaska; and her Great Grandson Jeremiah Hachkevich of Port Coquitlam B.C.
A Memorial Service will be held at Burquitlam Funeral Home 625 North Road, Coquitlam BC on Saturday, July 27th. 2013 at 10:00 am.. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at a reception to follow at Burquitlam Funeral Home. Burial will be Monday, July 29th. 2013 at The City of Port Coquitlam Cemetery.
