James Douglas Fairbrother (Jim), aged 86, passed away peacefully at Crossroads Hospice in Port Moody on September 21, 2024. He was born on January 11, 1938 in Saint John, New Brunswick to Edith and George Fairbrother.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of 55 years; daughter Jolene Fairbrother (Alex); daughter Deborah Saleem (Adnan); daughter Sharon Haslam (Andy); grandchildren Talia & Aidan Ansdell, Yusuf & Osman Saleem, Mark Haslam (Hilda) and Kathryn Lupton; great-granddaughter Ellie Haslam; brother Eric Fairbrother, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Edmund, Donald and George "Bill" Fairbrother; sister Frances Scribner; daughter Lucinda and son Steven Fairbrother.
Jim was a gentle man who was always quick to help family and friends whenever he could. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and we will miss him dearly.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Royal Columbian Hospital, and the staff and volunteers at Crossroads Hospice for their kindness and care during Jim's final days.
We especially want to express our gratitude to Andrew and Patty Chan for their friendship, medical assistance and for the countless appointments they drove Jim to over many years. We cannot thank you enough.
