James Pierce

August 18, 1950 — February 24, 2017

PIERCE, James E.
August 18, 1950-February 24, 2017

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Jim Pierce. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sheila Pierce, brother Richard Pierce (Sheron), nieces Julie Pierce, Sherri Ramos (James) and grandniece Audrey. Jim was a mechanical engineer specializing in conveyor belt analysis and worked for many years as ‘Top Gun” for Conveyor Belt Monitoring International, headquartered in Sydney Australia. He worked part-time in the Seasonal Department at the Port Coquitlam Home Depot. In Thunder Bay, he also worked at Thunder Bay Terminal, E.S.Fox Ltd, and C.D.Howe Engineering.

Jim and Sheila moved to Burnaby, BC in 1997 from Thunder Bay, Ontario where they still have many close friends.

Jim will be remembered for his generosity and fun-loving nature, his love of toys that made noise and practical jokes like leaving a trail of chocolate drops behind the mechanical deer at Home Depot. Jim loved to travel especially family trips to Bermuda and cruises, snorkelling, gardening, hosting dinner parties, golf and Christmas especially buying presents. Jim’s health steadily declined in the last two years. He spent the last 38 days of his life at Royal Columbian Hospital where he received excellent care. He was within hours of a transplant but sadly his body was not strong enough. He was brave, good-natured and optimistic to the end.
A Celebration of Life will be held April 8, 2017. Please contact the family for details.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jim’s name to Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
