John Adamkovics

John was born in Csorvas Hungary Feb 22, 1930, the only child of Flora and Adam Adamkovics. He spent his childhood through to early adulthood in Hungary which included living there during the second World War. After the communists took over, life became very difficult.

He began his university studies in the early 50’s and was in his last year when the 1956 revolution started which led him to emigrate to Canada. There he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy at University of Toronto in 1961.

He married his wife, Yvette, in Peterborough, ON in 1959. They have 2 children, Peter, who lives in Port Moody, and Deborah, who lives with her husband, Derek, in Kirkland, WA.

The family moved to Oshawa, ON in 1964 where he established Parkwood Pharmacy in 1967 and later expanded it into a full-fledged and successful Medical Clinic. He retired in 1999 and moved to Coquitlam, BC to live in the Pacific Northwest and follow the footsteps of his children.

John passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, April 22nd at the age of 87 in Coquitlam, BC. He was loved and will be missed by his wife Yvette, two children Peter and Deborah, son-in-law Derek, close relatives Vera and Franci in Canada, as well as his many cherished relatives in Hungary.
