Lita Joe

September 7, 1949 — September 17, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lita Joe on September 17, 2020. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side, after a long battle with cancer. Lita was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 7, 1949. She moved to Vancouver when she was four years old with her adoptive parents Harry and Lena Chow (predeceased).

She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the Abreast In A Boat paddling community. Lita was a remarkable woman, an amazing wife, loving mom and more so she enjoyed being Po Po to her grandchildren, Hope and Nate. She was also a wonderful sister-in-law, an amazing aunt and a kindhearted friend. She was always a happy, positive, pleasant, and a fun person to be with.

Lita is survived by her husband, Errol, of 47 years and her children Danelle (Fred Setterington), Ryan and her two precious grandchildren, Hope and Nate. And her brother, Jason Chow (Susan).

The family would like to thank all the staff at Surrey Memorial Hospital Emergency, as well as her family doctor, Dr. John A. Rideout, and staff at BCCA, oncologists Dr. Karen Gelman and Dr. Mary Georgialis, as well as her last trial nurse, Lahli, for all the care and support they have provided. We would also like to thank Rob McCormick, at Burquitlam Funeral Home, for the care and guidance where arrangements for Lita have been made.

At this time there will be a private family ceremony. A Celebration of Life for Lita will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Lita's memory to the B.C. Cancer Agency or an organization of your choice.
