Margaret Doris Mead was born on November 21, 1923 in Vermilion, Alberta. Margaret passed away on October 11, 2018 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband Bert Mead. Survived by sisters, Bobby May and Jane Cooper, her children Richard (Diane), Michael (Sam), Heather (Jeff), Marianne (Raymond), 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, as well as many relatives and friends.

Margaret (nickname Ricki) started playing piano at the age of 3 and continued to flourish with her love of music all her life. She taught piano for many years and played for numerous ballet schools and musical shows all over Canada for over 50 years. She married Bert Mead in 1943 and began her life as a Navy wife and mother embracing the many moves in Canada and abroad.

Being a long time resident of Port Moody, she was well known in the community for her enthusiasm to be involved in everything that was going on. She joined the Wilson Centre where she took up painting and joined two choirs. “Ricki” played music wherever she went and instilled the love of music in all 4 children. The legacy she left will go on forever.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on October 27, 2018 at Burquitlam Funeral Home at 625 North Road, Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Society.
