RICHARDSON, Margaret MacLeod (nee Murray): April 4, 1933 – November 8, 2012
A proud registered nurse, a devoted mother, and a loving wife, Margaret passed away peacefully on November 8, 2012, surrounded by the family that loved her deeply. She will be missed by her husband Donn, their sons James and David, her brother Tim (Joan), her sister Cheryl (Michel), and their families. She was predeceased by her sister, Gillian.
Margaret was born in Cairo, Egypt to Air Commodore John Murray and his wife Doreen. They returned to England in 1935, and moved to Ottawa in 1940 after her father was transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force. Margaret graduated from Lisgar Collegiate Institute in Ottawa in 1951, and obtained her registered nursing training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. Margaret moved to Vancouver in 1957, where she met her loving husband of nearly 54 years. Margaret and Donn settled in Coquitlam where they raised their family and have lived ever since. Margaret spent her life caring for others. As a registered nurse, she worked in hospitals in the Ottawa and Vancouver areas, most recently at the Burquitlam Lions Care Home in Coquitlam. Her varied interests included skiing, hiking, reading and ballroom dancing. After retirement, Margaret’s adventures included international travel, the Argentine Tango, and supporting her husband’s aerobatic flying. A special thanks to the “Jones Boys” for the music that made for so many enjoyable evenings of dancing in the Copper Room.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice in Port Moody, or the B.C. Cancer Foundation.
