Maria Teresa De Bortoli

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mom, Maria Teresa De Bortoli on October 4, 2025. She was born on August 1, 1947, in Nervesa della Battaglia, Treviso, Italy. Maria Teresa built a life defined by love, courage, faith, and family.

In 1965 at the age of 17, she married the love of her life, Arcangelo Zanatta and with great bravery and hope for the future, she immigrated to Canada, settling in New Westminster, British Columbia, where she built a beautiful life and home.

Maria Teresa spent her later years between British Columbia, Canada and Santi Angeli, Italy, staying close to her roots while surrounding herself with the people and places she loved. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Nancy (Russell), her son Anthony (Sandra) and her cherished grandson, Evan. She will also be deeply missed by friends and family around the world, whose lives were touched by her love, warmth and generosity.

Maria Teresa was a fiercely loving mother. Devoted, protective, and steadfast. A faithful Catholic, she carried her beliefs with grace and quiet strength. She was an extraordinary cook, and her kitchen was a place of comfort, tradition, and connection. Above all, she loved her family with all of her heart. Her legacy lives on in the stories shared, the traditions upheld and the love she instilled in those who were blessed to know her.

Funeral mass will be held on October 22, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Gardens of Gethsemani, located at 15694 32nd Avenue, Surrey, BC V3Z 9V1. Reception will be held following reception at Hazelmere Golf Course located at 18150 8th Avenue, Surrey, BC V3Z 9R9
