Mom passed peacefully on May 16th, at her home on Pender Island, with her loving daughters at her side. She was predeceased by her husband John (1989), and is survived by her children Susan (Manfred), John (Sue), Doug (Brenda) and Margie (Peter); and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Meghan – Kozmo and Emilia, Jerod (Alli) – Violet and Wade; Angie (Kelsey), Julia (Bryan) – Mia, Nash and Raven, Andrew, Stuart, Tommy, Ricky, Annie, Michelle (Carlos) – Gaby; James (Julie) – Mia, and Stephen.
Marion grew up in Ottawa, where she earned her Nursing degree. She came out west to Vancouver in 1956 (after a brief sojourn in Los Angeles), where she continued her nursing career, met John, and married in 1957. Children soon arrived, and she discovered her true vocation in life, as a loving Mother and Grandmother.
Marion was a woman of Faith, and she was a member of St. Augustine’s Church for over 50 years. The Catholic community was an important part of her life – she was a devoted volunteer at the church and the schools and developed many cherished friendships along the way.
In later years Marion lived with her daughter Susie and her husband Manfred, who offered her a loving and caring home, in Richmond, and then at Pender Island. And for that we are all so grateful.
Marion enjoyed life, had a wonderful sense of humour, and could always share a laugh and offer a smile. She was happiest at the countless family visits and gatherings, always asking for a full report of what was happening in the lives of her loved ones. We could always feel the warmth of her love, and we know we always will.
Mom, Grammie, you have left us an everlasting legacy of Faith and Love.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday June 3rd at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 2028 West 7th Avenue, Vancouver. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
