It is with deep sadness that we announce our mom, Marnie (Margaret) Jean Leisen (nee Macmillan), born on May 24, 1935, in High River, AB, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024 in the arms of her loving family.
Marnie was a vibrant and creative individual, known for her accomplishments as a painter and quilter. She created stunning photo albums that captured cherished moments for her children and grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Marnie enjoyed traveling the world with her beloved husband, Bill. The summers spent in Kelowna with family and friends were among her happiest times. She thrived on the joy of having her home filled with children and exuberant teenagers, and even in later life was a favourite among the neighbourhood kids. She had a special fondness for the rabbits and birds that frequented her yard and always looked out for them.
Marnie is survived by her children, Colette, Leslie (Brian), and Bruce (Karen), as well as her beloved grandchildren: Pascale Higham-Leisen, Brett, Sarah, and Danny Hannigan, and Trenton and Lucas Leisen. She cherished her relationships with her “roomies,” (Rosie, Irene, Jeanette and Ida) who were like sisters to her, as well as her and Bill’s neighbours in Edmonton, which included friendships that spanned over 60 years.
We are heartbroken and we will forever be grateful that she was our mom and for the gift of time we had with her. May her memory be forever a blessing.
Service will be held in October.
