With broken hearts we announce the death of 'Matt'. He died surrounded by his family after a brief but intense battle with cancer.
Matthew is survived by his loving wife Irene Barr, former wife Alice Straube, children Martha (David Smyth), Michael, John, Tyler (Nikki Jolie), granddaughter Kristen, siblings Loma (Vern Timm), Father Richard, Marilyn (Elephege Adam), Verna and Barry (Brenda Jones). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. We would also like to recognize his wonderful relationship with the entire Barr family.
Predeceased by his parents -Yvonne Chevalier and Joseph Kelly, siblings Doris, Ina, John, Frank, Herman, Gail and daughter-in-law Agnes Tanaka.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the palliative care team. We would specifically like to mention Lisa, Elizabeth and Hermina as they were instrumental in fulfilling 'Matt's' last wish
We would like to express our gratitude to all the family and friends who have supported us during this difficult time.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday January 22, 2017 at Burquitlam Funeral Home 625 North Road, Coquitlam.
In lieu of flowers we would appreciate donations to the Terry Fox Foundation.
