Maureen Macpherson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen Linda MacPherson after a long courageous battle with cancer on December 29, 2012 at Burnaby General Hospital. She will be deeply missed by her husband Douglas Turnbull, her sisters Lorraine Head (Michael, Sandra, Karyn), Christine Whittington (Ian, Brea), Cheryl Duke (Marvin, Steven, Jamie) and Janice Christian (Al, Devan, Robyn, James). Maureen was pre-deceased by her parents Vernen (2009) and Clarice (1995) Duerksen.

Maureen embraced life with incredible enthusiasm, energy and compassion. Her vibrant, caring personality was infectious and she was blessed with many good friends. Right to the end, she had a magical, indelible impact on the people that entered her life. She will be missed by many.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the tireless efforts of the doctors, nurses, councilors and medical staff that supported Maureen over the last five years. In particular we would like thank the B.C. Cancer Agency - Gynecologic Oncology Team, the Fraser Health Palliative Home Care Team and the entire staff of the Palliative Care Ward at Burnaby General Hospital.

A celebration of life service will be held on January 19, 2013, 2:00pm at the The Firefighters' Club Banquet and Conference Center, 6515 Bonsor St., Burnaby B.C. with Pastor Layton Chmelyk officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Maureen’s memory to either the B.C. Cancer Foundation or the B.C.S.P.C.A.
