Mel passed away peacefully at RCH after a lengthy illness. He was survived by Bev, his loving wife of 49 years; daughters Sandy Maxwell (Max) and Cindy Nedo (Jason); granddaughters Lauren and Callie; sister Beverly Simpson (Fred); and many nieces, nephews and relatives. Mel worked for BC Transit as a tireman for 38 years and was involved in Poco minor sports coaching hockey, ringette and softball. Mel was known to all as “Mr. Fixit” for his ability to repair anything mechanical. He lived his life to the fullest, enjoying RVing to Palm Springs every winter, puttering around the cabin at Green Lake, and being with family and friends. He will be missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 27th at Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Terry Fox Foundation.
