Michael Conrad Ilagan

June 19, 1956 — December 24, 2025

Burnaby

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Conrad Ilagan on December 24, 2025, at the age of 69. Michael is deeply missed by his beloved wife Carole and their daughters Michelle and Rachel.

Born in Manila, Philippines, Michael’s journey was defined by courage, love, and steadfast devotion to family. In 1975, he immigrated to Canada with his family, embracing new beginnings and building a life rooted in gratitude and hard work. Michael attended the University of British Columbia, graduating in 1982 with a Bachelor Of Commerce - a milestone that marked the start of a distinguished career.

Michael met Carole while they both worked at CIBC, and together they began a beautiful partnership marked by kindness, laughter, and shared purpose. They married in 1991 and made their home in Burnaby where they raised their daughters. Michael enjoyed a successful 35-year career with CIBC, retiring in 2020.

In retirement, Michael enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling. He found peace in caring for his garden, loved preparing meals for family, and cherished exploring new places with Carole. His humor, kindness, and steady presence made life brighter for everyone around him.

Michael was predeceased by his parents Conrado and Elena Ilagan, and his brother-in-law Angelo Toselli. He is lovingly survived by his wife Carole, daughters Michelle and Rachel, his siblings George (Paul), Robert (Luz), David (Nanette), Kenneth (Wendy), and his sister Melissa; as well as many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces who will remember “Uncle Mike” with gratitude and affection.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the compassionate team at the VGH Chest Centre for their exceptional care of Michael.
