Mitchell Lozynyc

April 3, 1991 — September 7, 2024

Mitchell Thomas Lozynyc, our beloved son and brother passed away tragically in a car accident. Mitchell is survived by his loving parents Doreen and Tim, beloved older sister Krystin Allyse who was born almost three years earlier. Predeceased by his loving Grandparents Mary and Tom Chlebak (Grandma and Grandpa) and loving Grandparents Katherine and Maksym Lozynyc (Baba and Didu) from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Living in Winnipeg, Uncle Max and Aunt Debbie and their children (Mitchell's cousins) Lindsay(Gini and Family) Katherine(Jeff and Family) Matthew (Kaylyn and Family), and other relatives throughout Canada, US and Europe as well as friends.

Born in Winnipeg, MB Women’s Pavilion, Health Sciences Centre, we were blessed with this bundle of joy who weighed 9 lbs 2 ozs. He was of German, Sloviakian, Ukrainian and Canadian descent. The family moved to Coquitlam, BC in 1994 when Mitchell was 3 years old. The children were raised in Coquitlam, BC. A childhood attending St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Claire of Assisi Church and then Northside FourSquare Church. Mitch was spiritual and believed in God. Mitchell received the sacraments of Baptism, Communion and Confirmation (St. Joseph’s RC Church), his saint choice was the Patron Saint of Courage and Strength "Mark". Mitch attended Catechism for seven years at St. Joseph’s RC Church.
He attended French Immersion at Panorama Elementary School, Summit Middle School, and was a Graduate of Pinetree Secondary School, all in Coquitlam.
Mitch was athletic and played baseball, soccer and loved playing in Steve Nash’s Basketball League during elementary and middle school ages. Mitch enjoyed swimming every summer at Eagle Ridge Pool and attained levels of swimming from beginning until close to lifeguard level. He learned how to ski at Cypress Children’s Ski program and Summit Middle School Ski Program, (he was a snowboarder) and continued to snowboard until late teens. Mitchell took pleasure in working out at the Trevor Linden Club 16 Gym (he used to bench press 250 lbs). He was athletic and very strong. Mitchell learned and played piano, he achieved a grade 4 level with the Royal Conservatory of Music. He loved running, hiking and walking in beautiful BC nature (specifically the Low and High Knowl in Minnekhada Regional Park (Coquitlam) and Vedder River Trail (Chilliwack, BC) and Cultus Lake.
Mitch attended BCIT (General Trades Course) and Douglas College (working towards Associates of Arts). He also attained the CSO Construction Safety Officer Course and Body Building Trainer Course. He had both his Class 5 and Class 3 Air Brake Driving Licenses. He also had Fork lifting certification. Mitch owned an Acura ILX and was proud of this car.
He was a kind and private person who enjoyed spending time by himself and with his family and some friends. We are so grateful for him and have so many memories of his life. Mitchell had a great sense of humour and was fun to be with. He had a calming presence that immediately grounded you when you had the privilege of spending time with him. "Still waters run deep" is a good description of his personality. Mitch was left handed, 5’10”, had dirty blonde hair, with beautiful grey blue eyes. He was very handsome. Mitchell took great pride in his appearance. He had a passion for fashion and shoes (loved athletic shoes). He had a double sleeve of creative and artistic tattoos that expressed who he was.
Mitchell obtained employment at reputable well known trucking companies. Mitchell was disciplined and had a great work ethic. In 2020 he moved out from home and lived independently in a new condo in Langley. He later moved to Chilliwack where he lived in a charming new walk out basement suite backing onto Elk Mountain, with a lovely family (who owned the home).
As our family loves to eat and dine out as well. Some of Mitchell's favourite restaurants were The Keg, Anton's, Sushi Mori, Coquitlam Grill, Bo Kong, WhiteSpot, Pho 99, San Remo's, Freshii and Starbucks, Tim Hortons, McDonalds (for coffee).
He loved animals and had 5 pets throughout his life. Tobey(Shih Zhu") Rocky and Brownie (guinea pigs), Quila and sister Bella (long hair chi hua huas). Mitch loved movies, TV series and documentaries. Some of which were Bedazzled, Santa Claus with Tim Allen, It’s a Wonderful Life, Romancing the Stone, The Godfather series of movies, Scarface, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and the Sopranos.
His favourite pastimes were watching sports. He loved Basketball the NBA, this was his favourite sport (Lebron James – favorite player) UFC, NFL (favourite quarterbacks Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes), Tennis (favourite tennis stars Rafal Nadal and Novak Djokovic). He also enjoyed playing "Nintendo and PlayStation". He enjoyed talking about Canadian and US politics. He enjoyed all genres of music, as music was and is an integral part of our family's life.
The family experienced many camping trips Golden Ears Park, Maple Ridge, Rolley Lake Park in Mission, BC, Tofino – Long Beach, Sechelt Island-Porpoise Bay, Manning Park (horseback riding). We had Ski trips to Big White in Kelowna, Whistler and had a season pass to Grouse Mountain. We had so much fun.
Memorable family vacations at Victoria, BC; Oregon Coast, Canmore Alberta, Calgary, Alberta, several trips to Winnipeg, Manitoba to attend celebrations and his grandmother's funeral with our Wpg. family, 2 trips to Disneyland & Universal Studios (Huntington Beach and Anaheim, California), San Diego Zoo and 2 trips to Maui, Hawaii.
Mitch had struggles and successes throughout his life and was extremely optimistic about his future. He was taken from us far too early and tragically.
We all loved each other as much as we could. Our hearts are broken and we will never forget Mitchell and love him forever.

A Memorial service took place Friday, November 22, 2024 in a private ceremony at Vancouver Golf Club.
