Myroslaw (Morris) Hrycay

It is with much sadness that the family announces the passing of Myroslaw (Morris) Hrycay on April 13th at the Crossroads Hospice, in his 93rd year, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Morris is survived by his sister Martha Farnell (Calgary, AB) and brother Andrew (Melville, SK) and is predeceased by brothers Maxim (Windsor, ON) and Bill (Toronto, ON) and sisters Olga Mazuren (Benito, MB) and Helen Reed (Red Deer, AB). Morris was a wonderful Uncle to many nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly.
Morris was born and raised on the family homestead in Arran Saskatchewan, where even as a young child, he learned the value of hard work. He left the farm and headed west, where eventually he landed a job on the CP Railway as a mechanic for 17 years. From there, he moved to Finning International for 23 years as a heavy duty mechanic, welder and just prior to retirement, working in the lab performing oil sample analysis.
In 1959, he had settled in Burnaby, where he purchased his first and only home and where over the next 60 years, spent endless hours building and maintaining his very beautiful gardens. He was an avid attendee of flea markets, loved to attend country dances and his love of music extended to playing the accordion, guitar and banjo. He was always very helpful and generous to his neighbors, friends and family.
Special thanks are extended to his family physician, Dr Paula Aiken, as well as to all of the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Crossroads Hospice for their genuine concern and care for Morris in his final days.
As per Morris’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
