Nettie Kelley

August 20, 1931 — April 6, 2023

Nettie Dorothy Kelley

Born August 20, 1931 to Edith and Daniel Lynch in Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia, the 9th of 15 children. Mom had seven brothers and seven sisters. She met the love of her life, Aubrey, when she was 18 and they married in September of 1958. They started an adventure across Canada on their honeymoon, finally settling in Burnaby in 1959 after a year in Winnipeg where they made lifelong friends. Their son Randy was born in 1961 and they enjoyed living in Burnaby until 1967 when they made the move to Coquitlam.

Mom had many interesting jobs but her favourite one was being a loving wife and mother. She always made home a special place to be. When Dad came home with a camper on his truck one year, it would begin many trips around the country and, when they retired, across North America in their RV. They made many wonderful memories and shared many of their adventures with family and friends.

Mom was thrilled when her granddaughter, Courtney, was born in 1995 and took to the role of grandma with zest. She was always there when needed and loved being a grandma.

After the loss of Dad in 2001, she continued on as the strong, wonderful lady she was and always said she had been lucky to have the best husband.

Mom enjoyed the next 20 years travelling with family and enjoying the company of her friends. She had many wonderful trips back to Nova Scotia to visit where she would enjoy laughing and telling stories with her many brothers and sisters.

Mom was living with Multiple Myeloma over the last few years and went through it all with determination and strength.

She is survived by her son Randy (Simoné), her granddaughter Courtney (Aaron), Malc and Liz (Simone’s parents), and her brothers, Ralph (Mount Uniacke), Clyde (Doreen) (Mount Uniacke), Reggie (Musquodoboit), Owen (Dorothy) (Hammonds Plains), and Ross (Mount Uniacke), as well as many dear members of the Lynch and Kelley families in Nova Scotia and around Canada.

She is survived by many friends who she has spent special times with.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, Edith and Dan Lynch, her husband of 43 years Aubrey, her sisters, Evelyn (Cape Breton), Minnie (Hammonds Plains), Mae (Mount Uniacke), Marjorie (Spryfield), Ethel (Mount Uniacke), Jennie (Gore), and Mildred (NS), and brothers Wallace (Mount Uniacke), and Cyril (Mount Uniacke). Many of her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and dear friends also predeceased her.

She will be remembered as a strong, determined and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. We know you are now at peace and with Dad “travelling” again. We love and miss you. Xxxx.

There will be a Celebration of Life and a Graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send any donations to Canadian Cancer Society- Multiple Myeloma Research
