It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Gregory MacDonald on September 14, 2025 at the age of 92 years. Raymond was predeceased by his loving son Trevor in 1995 and parents Rose and Michael MacLean. Leaving to mourn is his wife Betty of 60 years, daughter Rayleen, son in law Rob and his cherished grandchildren Makayla and Trevor. Ray is also survived by his family Vince (Charlotte), Martin (Pat), Gus, Robert (Geraldine), Judy (Jimmy), Lillian (Don), Pat (Bernie) and Lorne (Leona) and many nieces and nephews across Canada.
Ray was born in Washabuck, Nova Scotia on May 23, 1933. He cherished all the opportunities he was able to travel back to Nova Scotia to see family. Ray was always known for his famous stories of long ago and his memory recall was amazing. Up until his passing he was still able to make us laugh as the stories just kept getting bigger and better.
Ray worked for Fraser River Pile Driving for many years until his retirement from a serious accident. He was a proud union member belonging to Pile Drivers, Divers, Bridge, Dock & Wharf Builders Local 2404 since March 1968. Over the years Ray worked on many of BC's bridges and would often recall the years he worked on them.
Ray loved to play cards, watch sports, vacationing in Arizona, following the BC Lions and Vancouver Canucks, but only if they won. Collecting coins, antiques and Indigenous art brought Ray a lot of pride. Gardening was a passion for Ray over the years, as he always had the most beautiful flowers. His most memorable times were spent with his grandchildren, seeing them grow into wonderful, respectful adults.
Ray really enjoyed the past few years spending time visiting with close friends Ray/Deb and Mel/Evelyn. He always looked forward to all the dinners, card games, walks and the memories and laughs they enjoyed together.
Please join us in celebrating Ray’s amazing life at his funeral on Oct 4, 2025 @ 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church located at 315 Walker Street Coquitlam, BC.
