Raymond Zaporozan (born Roman)
February 25, 1929 – August 18, 2015
Raymond was pre-deceased by his wife, Phyllis of 63 years in September of 2014. He was also pre-deceased by his siblings Victor, Joe, Edna, Madaline and Hilda.
Raymond is survived by his eldest sister Ann Seminiuk as well as his children Romayne (Roger) Payer, Kim (Louise) Zaporozan, Jan (Allison) Zaporozan, Heather (Darren) Greiner, Raymond (Donna) Zaporozan, Kurt (Cathy) Zaporozan.
Raymond was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He cherished them all and always had a sparkle in his eyes whenever he spent time with them!
Raymond was born in Hemaruka, AB to Sam & Mary Zaporozan (nee Sokoloski) moving later to Harry Hill and then to Vegreville, AB. Raymond, as a young man, cowboyed, picked tobacco and farmed in Alberta and Ontario before moving west to New Westminster, B.C. where he worked for Pacific Veneer, retiring there 44 years later under the Canfor banner.
It was at PV that Raymond met the love of his life, Phyllis Henderson. They lived and loved together in Coquitlam for their entire marriage. Raymond was in love with Phyllis every day and they were together even after Phyllis passed away.
Raymond was an amazing person and role model for his family. He was quick to make a joke, with the ability to make friends quickly. He had the fortitude to provide for his family through even the toughest of times. Raymond was dedicated to his community and was a proud member of the Coquitlam Volunteer Fire Department (Firehall No. 4), serving in that capacity for close to 25 years.
Raymond will be dearly missed by all who knew him, leaving legacy of understanding and compassion that all should take to heart!
