Fowler, Rita May
Long time Coquitlam resident Rita Fowler, at the age of 88, was re-united on May 3, 2013 with her beloved husband Don, son Rob, and grandson Gordie. Rita’s kids Valerie, Bruce, Susan and Greg and their families would like to thank Doctor Van Buuren, the Pharmacy Team at Shoppers Como Lake, and the staff at Royal Columbian Hospital for their great care and many kindnesses to Mom over the years.
Mom’s house, kitchen and cookie jar were always open and six unexpected school chums for lunch just meant a few more cheese whiz sandwiches on the grill and another can of tomato soup in the pot. Family friends popped in for a quick chat over a morning coffee, and then stayed on for lunch and sometimes dinner too.
When her five kids were out of the nest, Mom could often be found at the Cameron for bingo, or the Dogwood for cards. Mom said to tell her card cronies at Dogwood that if they want a re-match at crib, she’ll be waiting for them up there.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Como Lake United Church in Coquitlam (corner of Marmont and King Albert). In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
Rita Fowler will long be remembered as a great parent and a great friend.
