It is with profound sadness we share that Robert John Matwiv (Bob, also known affectionately as Cowboy Bob) passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 25th. Bob was born in Vancouver on April 11th, 1950 and later moved to the Tri Cities (Port Moody, Coquitlam, and then back to Port Moody) with his wife of almost 40 years, Patti. Together they had two children, Nikki (Cole) and Cam (Melissa). Bob was prolific in the event industry, working at the PNE for 16 years and then was the General Manager at the Cloverdale Rodeo and Exhibition for 20 years, retiring in 2010. Never one to sit still for long, he remained active in the community working and volunteering for many events including Jazz Festival, The Festival of Lights, Squamish Live, and spent more than 15 years with the Golden Spike Days Society. He had a deep love for his family, travel, and an ice-cold Strongbow Cider - always with two limes. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at SiteB (3012 Murray St, Port Moody) on Sunday, November 2nd at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation and the C2B Ward in Bob’s name.
