Rosemary Isobel Adams

January 7, 1946 — August 22, 2025

Burnaby

Rosemary was born in London, England and at an early age moved to Edmonton, Alberta with her family. The two great passions of her life were introduced here- literature, all things with words and horses. There was no one faster at completing a jigsaw puzzle, finishing a crossword or word puzzle. She delighted in sharing her passions with friends and their children as well as the children she taught during her 36 year career as a teacher-librarian in North Vancouver. The day/week in her classroom often ended with a chilling story being read to her students in a darkened room. She was a very creative teacher often doing simulations of what they were learning, such as the French Restaurant program where students used the French they had learned. She cherished all animals and always had a cat to keep her company.

Rosemay was a people person. She cared for her mother for several years and then for her sister Pat. She made friends with every new challenge she took on.

For many years she worked to improve the lives of teachers and students through her involvement with the teachers’ union, never missing a meeting, editing a newspaper for the teachers’ association and being a union rep.

Rosemary was also a dedicated single parent to her daughter Raven and special aunty to the children of her best friends. She never missed a birthday or special event sending cards and gifts, a practice she continued to the end of her life. We all have stuffies and special items that she carefully selected for us. Her passing leaves a large hole in many peoples’ lives. Her sister Pat, daughter Raven, grand daughters Marina (Travis), Great Grandson Hudson and Katie (Bridges), friends at Century House Seniors Society, the children who called her Aunty and her special friends Linda, Cathy, Jill and Carol miss her every day.

After several years of ill health, Rosemay chose to end her life by MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying). She knew exactly how she wanted her journey of life to end. A special thank you to the staff at Royal Columbian Hospital for their care and assistance and to the doctor and nurse who administered MAiD.
