Roy Ottman

December 11, 1930 — March 2, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Roy Orland Ottman at the age of 85 years.

After a brave struggle with declining health, Roy left us in the early hours of Wednesday, March 2, 2016.

Roy was born on December 11, 1930, in Wadena, Saskatchewan; the sixth of seven children born to Jake and Mabel (Nystrom) Ottmann. He was raised on the farm and attended school during the Great Depression. He moved to British Columbia in the early 1950’s, where he worked at different jobs in the mining industry. He later formed his own drilling company and drilled for several years before joining Durand-Rauté as a Journeyman/Welder/Fabricator. He retired in 1990 after 25 years of dedicated service.

Roy was a hard-working, honest man. He touched many lives while sharing his joy of hockey, country music, camping and fishing. He will be remembered for his great sense of humour, understated loving nature, and his commitment to looking after his family.

Aside from his parents, Roy was predeceased by his brother Gordon.

Roy will be profoundly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean (Neis), adoring daughter Cheryl (Wayne) Williams, and precious granddaughter Chae-Lynn. He leaves to mourn his siblings Madeleine (Rawles), Amy (Ehlert), Herb, Stan, and Doris (Dunbar); numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other family members, good friends and neighbours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC or the charity of your choice.
