Sabina Branzan

May 10, 1929 — December 13, 2024

On December 13, 2024 Sabina Branzan, 95, passed away peacefully in Coquitlam BC, surrounded by her family.

Sabina was born in 1929 in Ciutulesti, Romania (now Republic of Moldova), the only daughter of Alexei and Maria. At the end of World War II she relocated to Romania where she lived life to its full extent, although it was not without its hurdles.

In 1954 she graduated with a Medical Doctor Degree from the University of Timisoara and she worked as a General Practitioner until 1989. Sabina married Constantin (Nicu) in 1957, and they built a happy and successful life together in Craiova, Romania. In 2011, Sabina moved to Canada to be with her daughter, Mirela and her family.

Sabina could be described as strong, smart, organized, independent, hard working and dedicated to her family. Professionally, Sabina was very passionate about her work. She visited her patients with mobility issues daily and ensured they followed their treatment.

Sabina loved reading, playing Rumikub, doing crossword puzzles, baking and keeping up to date with current news. She also loved spending time with her friends, and travelling. In her youth Sabina and her husband travelled throughout Eastern Europe. Some of the countries she visited are Poland, Hungary, Czechia, and Bulgaria.

She is survived by her loving family: her daughter Mirela and her husband Marian, her grandchildren: Alex and his wife Victoria, and Filip and his wife Andrea, her great-grandchildren: Lukas, Jakob and Emilia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first born daughter, Oana, and her husband Constantin (Nicu).

Her funeral ceremony will be held on January 7th, 2024 at 12:00 noon at St Nicolae Orthodox Church in Surrey, British Columbia followed by her burial at Robinson Memorial Park Cemetery in Coquitlam BC.

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew her. As she was a practicing Orthodox Christian, we pray to God for His warm embrace of Sabina.
