Shirley Anne Sundberg

December 19, 1942 — August 21, 2023

Shirley Anne Sundberg (80) of Delta, BC passed away suddenly on Monday, August 21st, 2023

Anne was born on December 19, 1942, in Frencham, England to Peggy and Ralph Stuart. She moved to Canada at the age of 3 with her mum and dad, originally settling in Carstairs and then finally in Red Deer, Alberta where she grew up with her brother and sisters – Bob, Charlie, and Laurie. She married Harry Miller in 1962 and raised two daughters: Shelley and Heather. Anne lived her life fully, lovingly and with deep interest in learning and seeing new things – always ready for an adventure.

Anne had a passion for creating things and had a fantastic ability to make beautiful food including soups, cakes (remember her chocolate mayonnaise cake?), casseroles and breads. Anne was also a beautiful and deeply talented artist who spent many years creating amazing pieces with watercolor, ink, and oil paintings. She shared these pieces with those that she loved the most. Anne was a very talented gardener with the ability to make anything grow. Anne also loved animals – particularly dogs. The list of wonderful pets that Anne considered her family is long but the few that she favored the most were Kamloops (Loops), Grey Token (Toke), Mitsy Moses and McDuff.

Anne is survived by her daughters Shelley Nicholson, Heather Valentino (Danny); her grandchildren Melissa Nicholson, Tyler Nicholson, Joshua Nicolson, Sydney Valentino, and Ryan Valentino; her siblings Robert (Bob) Stuart (Carol); Charlene Kuchirka (Rocky); Laurie Hall (Terry) and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Her best friends Pauline (recently passed) and Judi Martin (Alec).

We are deeply grateful for the love and support of our family and friends during this difficult time.
We will miss our Anne very much but take comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain. Rest peacefully mum – until we see you again.

“If I should go tomorrow, it would never be goodbye. For I have left my heart with you, so don’t you ever cry. The love that’s deep within me, shall reach you from the stars. You’ll feel it from the heavens, and it will heal all your scars.”

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday September 10, 2023 @ 1pm located at 3206 – 44A Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta. For more information please contact Kerri Heide (Anne’s niece) @ 403.348.3414.
