Stephen Lowe

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Stephen Douglas Lowe of Port Coquitlam, B.C. on August 3, 2022. Before passing, Steve forged a 64-year trail of memories, laughter, generosity, compassion, and wisdom.

Steve is survived by his wife of 37 years Maureen, the love of his life and his very best friend. He also leaves behind his proudest accomplishments, daughters Shannon, Claire, and Pamela. An 11-month love affair with his sweet granddaughter Victoria ended much too soon.

To his loving daughters he left his unique sense of humour and a lifetime of wisdom and guidance. Always foremost in his thoughts and heart were his “Shanny-Anne”, “Claire the Bear” and “Pammy Pants”. The girls feel truly blessed to have been raised by such an exceptional man who took such great joy in everything they did and was always right beside them when they needed him.

Left with decades of fond and colourful memories are countless cherished, brilliant friends and his much loved and devoted sisters and their families - Brenda Earl; Sheri Lowe; Michelle Lowe; and Kristen Lowe.

It was Steve’s honour to be friends with some truly great people. He had a wonderful life, the most devoted, loving family one could hope for, traveled to every place on earth that he wanted to go, laughed at every opportunity, revelled in embellishing many a tale to the delight of his audience. He was the ultimate cook and connoisseur with many a specialty preserved in the treasured family cookbook.

His regrets were few but included not training his faithful dog Chico to detect cancer, an oversalted Bolognese sauce in 1995; and lying about catching that huge spider in the bedroom.

He loved and felt loved all his life and frequently he would realize his luck and say, “Hey Maureen, it just doesn’t get any better than this”. He would thank you all for sharing his life with him.

A Celebration of Steve’s life, including hefting a defiant middle finger to cancer, will also be held in Kingston, Ontario on Friday Oct 14th, 4-7pm, at the 560 Legion, 734 Montreal St.
