Sylvia Ann Arnal

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sylvia Ann Arnal (Strileski) announce her passing on October 21, 2025 at age 87.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years Gerard (Gerry) Arnal and her children Judy (Jamie), Steven (Caroline), Donald (Sheila), Mark (Maureen), 9 Grand Children and 8 Great-Grandchildren. As well, her dear Sister Mildred Larocque.

She passed peacefully following a lengthy stay with the excellent & compassionate care team at Eagle Ridge Hospital.

Sylvia was born June 3, 1938 in Petersfield Manitoba to parents Tina (Shimaro) and Fred Strileski, and had two older siblings Arthur & Mildred. She grew up in Manitoba & Ontario prior to her family moving west to Coquitlam where she attended Como Lake High school. She was a talented artist, very active in sports and other extra curricular school programs.

Sylvia met Gerry in high school, and they were married on June 21, 1958 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Soon after Gerry built the Arnal family home in Coquitlam. They continued to live there until they moved to Parkwood Manor, Coquitlam in November 2024.

Sylvia was dedicated to her family and was always ready to talk with, and support all those dear to her. She hosted countless gatherings for family & friends which she absolutely treasured. She loved to entertain by putting a twist on stories and experiences to add a spark of humour. She was artistic and creative and loved her time in her gardens, feeding the birds, camping, travelling, bowling and crafting. Sylvia was a collector of many things precious & whimsical! She loved to shop at garden centres, thrift stores, arts & crafts & garage sales.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am Friday, November 7 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church - 828 Laval Square, Coquitlam, BC.
