It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Terry Gallagher, on March 11, 2026. Born December 26, 1937, to Alice MacDonald in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Terry was the eldest of three children. She is survived by her brother Fred and was predeceased by her sister Loni and her parents, Alice and Al Galloway.
At the age of 12, Terry moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, where she built a life and spent the remainder of her years surrounded by family and friends. She was the loving wife and soulmate of Bernard for 57 years. Together, they raised three children: Michael (Tricia), Kevin (Tanja), and Cheryl (Bernie). Terry also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Sean, Justin, Aidan, Liam, Kayley, and Nolan. She is also fondly remembered by Demita, mother of Sean and Justin.
One of Terry’s greatest passions in life was her love of animals. Her home was always filled with dogs and cats, and she spent many years caring for the family farm in Richmond, which was home to a wide array of animals. She also treasured her time spent traveling, especially her trips to Hawaii and Palm Springs with Bernard. Life grew quieter after his passing in 2018, but her love for her family and the memories they shared remained ever-present.
At her request, there will be a private family gathering to honor this remarkable woman and to share cherished memories of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Terry’s memory to the SPCA or BC Children’s Hospital.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness not only in the lives she touched, but in every animal she loved and cared for—each one a quiet reflection of her gentle and compassionate heart.
