Trevor Nash

August 9, 1946 — December 29, 2020

Trevor Alan Nash, age 74, was born in Rochford, England, and never lost his English accent. At 17, he moved with his parents, Doreen and Norman, to San Francisco, then came alone to Vancouver at 19. Fortunately, his passion for rugby led him to a big house in Point Grey, to live with other expats and play for the Trojans. There followed a 28-year career in BC Hydro, which he combined with getting a degree in mathematics (and later, studies in computers and statistics) at SFU, as well as the very precious joy of his three children, Arren, Melissa and Janessa. Following retirement, he was able to pursue his creative interests, studying watercolour, and calligraphy, and joining two local calligraphy groups. One of those groups was where he met Kathleen (Kate), and their marriage followed in 2005. There was more growth in the family, with the addition of sons-in-law Norbert Bisek in 2014 and T(homas)-Ray Richardson in 2016, and the blessing of grandson Ben Bisek’s arrival in 2015. Alzheimer’s took him away from us, and yet, even in dementia, his humor, whistling, and singing were a delight.

Trevor’s humors, his wonderful smile and laugh, his many jokes, his quirky creativity, his passion for sports - rugby, football (both American and English), cricket and much more - and the outdoors (camping, biking, cross-country skiing, hikes), his great love for animals (most recently Snoopie), and his deep, deep resonance with music (the opera of his parents, English rock and roll, and above all, JAZZ) are some of the wonderful qualities we loved and will forever miss.
