The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Shirley Hamelin can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

A kind and gentle soul .

My sister Shirley Ann was born in Beaverlodge Alberta . Her nickname was Toots . "Toots" ,myself and our father moved to B.C. in 1946. Our mother followed shortly afterwards. Shirley and I were always close. We spoke on the phone all the time and my vacations were spent visiting . She would always be planning day trips and suggesting fun things to do. She was the kindest gentlest person. She raised 7 children on her own. Worked hard all her life to ensure that her family were taken care of . She was my personal hero , we shared the same views on politics , life , celebrities , and even family. She took care of her husband through his illness and took great care of our mother at the same time , all on her own. She juggled her busy schedule with the help of her children to travel to our mothers home , to comfort her during her passing. She was an angel ! I will miss our many conversations about everything under the sun , until one of her favorite tv programs came on , then it was "gotta go " . Many laughs , many tears ....I am so proud to have been her brother. Sweet dreams "Toots" . You are with dad who adored you and mom and of course your Colin . And not to be left out Buddy barking up a storm .
