Obituary for Dianna Louise "Dee" Parry (Ling)

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our mom, Dianna “Dee” Parry on July 8, 2020 after a short but hard fought battle with Cancer.

Dee is survived by her husband Bob, her daughters; Rhonda (Dal), Cheryl (Tim), Elisa (Glenn), and cherished grandchildren. She leaves behind many other family members and lifelong friends.

Dee was born on February 27, 1952 in Regina, Saskatchewan but was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba with her amazing and supportive extended family. She is predeceased by her parents Helen and Wilfred Ling.
She eventually moved to B.C. and raised her family in Maple Ridge. Dee was devoted to her work and helping others. She was a hard-working and successful advertising sales representative at the Tri-City News and an active volunteer in her community. She organized many events and held fundraisers for Crossroads Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society and Seaforth Highlanders of Canada.

A single parent for many years, she was fiercely independent and always had a to-do list!
Mom could sew anything! And loved knitting too. She enjoyed hikes on Burke mountain with Bob and her fur baby Jake, shopping and lunch dates with her bestie Carol and bragged about her sharp shooting skills at the Gun Club.

She was a wonderful Grandma and will forever be remembered by family and friends for her bubbly personality, infectious smile and teeny tiny shoes.

Forever in our hearts.

Due to the current health restrictions a private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life.

Nobody is more caring, compassionate, positive, upbeat, and ‘always look on the bright side’ as Dee. If you were down, she’d lift you up. if you were sad, she’d make you laugh, if you needed help, she’d be there in a heartbeat.
That infectious giggle, that groundedness, that loving and caring. All Dee, and always cherished.
Dee, we are really going to miss you, so often you brightened the lives of those around you. You shine on forever in our hearts.

When i met Dee in 2010, her warm personality shone through immediatley. Her sense of humor, infectious laugh and constant banter with Linda, Don and the team made me laugh every day. Dee was genuinely kind and generous like no other. Always giving back to the community and always there if you needed a friend. I will miss her. I wish to pass on my heartfelt condolences to Bob, her family and countless friends. Dee, you are a rare gem that will always shine even though you are not here with us anymore.

Words cannot accurately describe the sense of loss and shock we (my wife Carrie, daughter Jessica and I) felt when we were told of Dee’s passing and continue to feel. Her passing has left a deep void in our lives. She was more than just an exceptionally good friend but, along with Bob, was a part of our extended family. We started as “work-mates” and developed into something much, much more. Whenever you needed it (and even when you didn’t) Dee was always there with a smile or a kind word. She was there to support and help. No matter what the situation, you could always count on Dee.
She was an excellent Godmother to our daughter, Jessica, and was always there to love, nurture, support and guide her through her visits to Denmark and our visits to Canada plus her many cards and telephone calls over the years, even when she was on the other side of world. Jessica is a better individual for having had Dee as her Godmother.
We worked together, partied together, holidayed together, laughed together and cried together. We had a lot of good times together that I/we will cherish forever. I/we shall miss the visits (both here and there…and in between), phone calls, FaceTimes, cards and emails. We will miss her. She will be in our hearts and in our memories forever. We will always love you and never forget you.
