1930 - 2017

Born April 13, 1930 in Nedervetil, Finland Dorothy passed away peacefully on November 2, 2017 at 87 years of age. Predeceased by her husband Eugene in 1998 Dorothy will be loved and missed by sons; Gary (Jenny) and Steve (Linda), grandchildren; Jessica, Natalie, Laurel, Conner and Shaynee, great-grandchildren; Chloe and Cooper, and sister Bernice and family.

Dorothy immigrated to Canada from Finland in 1951. After a short time in eastern Canada she moved to B.C. where she met her husband Eugene. They first lived in the small mining town of Stewart but after a few years there they moved and eventually settled in Burnaby where they raised their family. Dorothy was a longtime member of the Order of Runeberg Lodge 124 and valued the many friendships she made there.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on January 22, 2018 at Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam. Special Thanks to staff and doctors at Burnaby General Hospital as well as staff and doctors at Crossroads Hospice, Port Moody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
