Condolence: Like most Canadian guys, my time with Dad would revolve around having a beer. When Maureen and I visited he would make sure there was enough bubbly in the fridge. This was great when Maureen and I came back from a long bike ride on a warm day. We could sit and relax in the living room and talk to Dad and Mom. We always had good discussions and sometimes heard the same stories we heard the previous year. I particularly liked to hear about his time in Halifax with the Navy during the Second World War. My own father was there at the same time but on a mine-laying ship to prtect the harbour. They both remembered the day clearly when the second Halifax Harbour Explosion occurred. Luckily that explosion was much less deadly than the first Halifax explosion during the First World War. Also, both my father and Ernie passed away on the same day of the year. He will be so missed.

Condolence: Uncle Ernie was such a good man and I know this is difficult for you all. These pictures are just wonderful and bring back such good memories! It just makes me cry as I know you are missing him! But, we are the blessed ones to have had such amazing Fathers. I love you all and am praying for you. I look forward to, hopefully, seeing you in the spring.
