Obituary for Gian Pietro Infanti

Gian Pietro Infanti
Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and Nonno, Gian Pietro (Gianni) Infanti passed away on March 22, 2017, at the age of 67, after a short but overwhelmingly difficult battle with cancer.
Gian Pietro was born in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy, in 1949 and was the first of three children. He immigrated to Canada in 1967 and settled in Vancouver, BC where he met and married his wife, Clara, of over 44 years. They settled in Burnaby, BC where they raised two sons, Flavio and Renzo.
In his early career, Gian Pietro worked as a machinist, welder and fabricator and especially enjoyed developing and building machinery and prototypes. In the last several years he found it both challenging and rewarding working as a consultant for the sawmill industry and in nurturing new friendships and positive working relationships with those with whom he worked.
Gian Pietro loved his family and his married life and was very proud of his sons and their accomplishments. All of his grandchildren were very special to him and he truly appreciated and respected his daughter-in-laws.
Gian Pietro is survived by his wife, Clara; his son Flavio (Lisa) and their children Luca, Olivia and Nora; his son, Renzo (Tammy) and their children Gianna and Rocco; his brother, Bruno (Elodia) and their sons Stefano, Gianni (Andrea) and their daughter Maddalena, and Manuel (Ramona); his sister, Roberta, in Italy; and many cousins.
Special thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at Lion’s Gate Hospital for their care and compassion in making Gian Pietro’s stay in Palliative Care as comfortable as possible and to the doctor, nurses and Randolph at St. Michael’s Hospice for their help during his final day with us.
In lieu of flowers, Gian Pietro requested that donations be made to Chalice at 101 – 26 Union Street, Bedford, NS B4A 2B5 – phone: 1-800-776-6855 - for children in need.
