Passed away peacefully in the presence of his family. Predeceased by brother Arnold and sister Jean. Survived by his wife Elenor, his sons Douglas, Philip (Jodie), Cliff (Barb), Robert (Aida), Richard (Cheri), and Henry Jr. (Andrea); his many grandchildren (Steve, Natasha, Kristian, Sam, Danica, Sydney, Anna and Kyla). Henry won many awards and scholarships and studied piano with many leading Canadian, American and European teachers. He had a performance diploma (ARCT) and (A. He started teaching in Claresholm, Alberta in 1942. Later, he taught at Mt. Royal College and then moved to Lethbridge for 12 years. He played semi-pro baseball and hockey and was a provincially ranked tennis player. During his time in Lethbridge, he produced many musicals. He was president of the RMT for 4 years, Chairman of the Kiwanis Band for 5 years and music critic for the Lethbridge Herald. During the early 60’s, Henry played in the Jasper Park Lodge orchestra for 7 seasons, giving over 800 performances. In 1970, he moved to New Westminster to become a founding member of Douglas College. He retired in 1993, but continued on a part-time basis for another 5 years. He continued to teach privately until 4 months ago (71 years of teaching). Henry was musical director for more than 75 musicals. Henry was also a former board member for BC Minor Baseball. Upon his retirement, Henry established a scholarship fund to the College, which awards $1000 each year to Douglas College music students. Henry and his wife Elenor celebrated their 56th anniversary last November.

In recent years, Henry received a lifetime achievement award from the Coquitlam-Maple Ridge Branch of Registered Music Teachers and an “Excellence in the Arts” award from the Tri-Cities Arts Council.
