Obituary for Margaret Effie "Peggy" Mackenzie

Margaret Effie "Peggy" Mackenzie
Margaret "Peggy" MacKenzie
Oct 28-1924 - Nov 23-2017

Peggy is predeceased by her Father Duncan, Mother Mary, Sister Molly Radford, brothers Gilbert "Buster", and Don, nephew Barry "Mac", and niece Karen. She is survived by her daughter Joanne (Mike), nephews Ron and Ken, niece Judi, and grand nephew Brent (Ashley). She will be greatly missed by her closest friend Marg Camponi. Donations can be made to Union Gospel Mission in lieu of flowers.

Peggy was born in Port Alberni, and grew up in the small cannery village of Kildonan to Scottish parents Mary and Duncan. She led a simple and happy childhood there which she always remembered fondly. She was the baby of the four children in the family. She completed her early schooling through correspondence. When she was twelve, the family moved to New Westminster, where she completed High school. From there Peggy worked at Pacific Veneer, in the making of Mosquito Aeroplanes. She worked there for about 20 years and made many friends that she kept in contact with through all her years. She enjoyed travelling with her friends.

Peggy then worked for Safeway for 20 years and retired. In her retirement Peggy enjoyed travelling abroad to many places with her 3 Amigos, Marg Lil and Clarice. They made many memories together on these trips. Later she travelled with her Daughter Joanne and enjoyed travelling with her daughter. She was a loving and thoughtful Mother. Peggy also loved to do needlework, read and gardening was a passion for her.

We will all miss her dearly.
