Maureen Choudhury (née Benner)
1961 - 2012
Maureen passed away with her family gathered around her on October 25th. She fought breast cancer valiantly for ten years so she could spend as much time as a mother to her daughters Angela and Sarah and as a wife to her husband Paul. Born in North Vancouver, Maureen grew up around BC and settled in Coquitlam to raise her family. She held Executive Assistant positions at Placer Dome, Methanex, and Ledcor prior to finding her true calling at the Coquitlam Public Library and starting studies in Library Science. Predeceased by her father Robert, she also leaves behind her mother Norah Remillard, sister Elaine, brother John, and nephews Thomas and Matthew. Family across Canada and in the US, UK, and India will miss her so much. Her cats are already missing her. Maureen gave so much love to those around her and received in return the love and care of her family, friends and community. There was never a shortage of home cooked meals, drivers, and friends to hold her hand during her treatments. The family wishes to thank her medical team that guided her on this journey. At the BC Cancer Agency Dr. Conrad Oja has been our healer, counsel, and friend for the past three years. Dr. Joan Eddy, the nurses on the community palliative care team and our pharmacists have been angels to her in her last months. The staff at Crossroads Hospice took her under their wings in her last days. A memorial service is to be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 3rd at Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam. No flowers by request.
