Rob

Rob passed away suddenly at the age of 59. He leaves behind his wife Shirley, sons Ian and Justin, and his grandson Ethan. He was predeceased by his father Francis Cross, and mother Irene. Rob was born in Victoria BC on Sept 10 1958 where he lived a good part of his life. Rob graduated from Spectrum High School and went on to the University of Victoria and Camosun College. In the 80s Rob moved to New Westminster where he worked and lived for 10 years and it was there that he met and married Shirley. They briefly moved to Burnaby where their first son Ian was born and soon after they bought their house in Coquitlam Justin was born. They have stayed in the same home and wonderful community ever since. Rob started playing the bagpipes at the tender age of 9 and competed at many highland games. He joined the Canadian Scottish Regiment in Victoria in the 1970s and was proud to have been part of the band for about 10 years. He also played in the New Westminster Pipe Band from 1993-95. A twinkle in his eye and a smile always in the corner of his mouth just waiting to happen, Rob was always ready to jump in and help at home, at work and with friends. Hardworking and dedicated at work, he naturally found solutions for his clients and co-workers alike. Before the boys were born, Rob and Shirley had some great vacations and good times together, and then decided to have a family. Robs greatest love was his family. Over many happy years, they enjoyed camping adventures, sand castles on the beach, paddling on the lake together, as well as many years driving Shirley and the boys to speed skating competitions around western Canada. His boys greatest fan, he made a point to be at their concerts, sporting events and all other major events in their lives. Most recently, he enjoyed taking his grandson that he dearly loved to play in the park and on trike rides. A great husband, father, grandfather, friend and co-worker, Rob will be sorely missed.
