Life Story for William Christopher "Bill" Winder

William Christopher "Bill"  Winder
Bill (William) was born on a Japanese Junk (boat), off the coast of Shanghai, China on September 23, 1924. He lived and graduated at The Saint Francis Xavier Ophanage and College, in Shanghai, China, until the age of 15. Bill went on to complete his final school years in Victoria, BC.

Bill was married to Dawn Lorraine Winder on Oct 12th, 1951; they were married 64 years.
Bill worked as a tug boat engineer for Seaspan International for more that 35 years. He enjoyed creating things from odds and ends, Philosophy, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also actively involved for several years at the Northside Foursquare Church where Pastor Barry presides.

Bill is survived by his wife Dawn L. Winder, and his two sons and their wives, Clark and Ursula Winder and Michael and Trudy Winder; his brother and his wife Al and Joyce Winder; his 4 grandchildren Angela and Dave, Melanie and Dave, Kevin and Alysha, and Melissa and Richard; his 5 great grandchildren Cassidy, Jack, Sadie, Aubrey, and Thomas; his nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Winder and Mitsuo Oduka; his Stepmother, Isabelle Winder, and his sister, Mary Winder.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the BC Lung association, www.bc.lung.ca/donate/donate.html. The family of Bill Winder wishes to thank the Residence at Belvedere staff, and the Eagle Ridge hospital Acute care and PATH units, for their wonderful staff and the amazing care given.
