This on-call position is ideal for Canadian College of Funeral Service Foundation Students or those looking to gain experience in the funeral service industry. The funeral assistant's job is to assist the funeral director with conducting funerals.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Must have a valid BC driver’s license
- Candidates should possess a high school diploma
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or greater without difficulty
- Must be computer literate and possess Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written
- Maintain high ethical and confidentiality standards
- Criminal records check
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clean and drive funeral vehicles such as cars or hearses in funeral processions
- Greeting guests and distributing memorial cards
- Operating the audio & video equipment
- Carry flowers to hearse or limousines for transportation to places of interment
- Vacuum and clean chapel after service
- Perform general maintenance duties for funeral home
- Perform a variety of tasks during funerals to ensure that services run smoothly and as planned
- Assist as a pallbearer when needed
- Assisting with visitations, memorial and funeral services
- Responsible for visitation and chapel set-up and clean-up
- Other duties as assigned by Management, such as transfers to the crematorium
Please note this position is mobile, meaning that work may take place at our Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam properties, in addition to various churches and venues.
