Funeral Director & Embalmer

Full Time

We are seeking a licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer, with a passion for putting families first, to join our team on a full time basis.

Skills & Qualifications: 
  • Valid BC Funeral Director & Embalmer License
  • Valid BC Drivers License
  • Empathetic and caring nature
  • Maintain high ethical and confidentiality standards
  • Manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail
  • Stay organized and be flexible while adapting to changes in priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Computer literate and comfortable with technology
  • Experience with Google Business Apps, Mortware, SRS Computing and FrontRunner are an asset
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, in addition to being self driven
  • Proficiency with filing systems and managing records, both hardcopy and electronic
  • Second language is an asset
  • Criminal Records Check
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Arranges with families, or agencies, cremation and burial services
  • Coordinates and directs a variety of services, both religious and non-denominational 
  • Meets and surpasses the needs and expectations of the families we serve
  • Coordination with churches, clergy, cemeteries and crematoriums to provide the best possible experience for families
  • With the assistance of our answering service, on-call rotation
  • Additional duties as required

Funeral Assistants

On Call

This on-call position is ideal for Canadian College of Funeral Service Foundation Students or those looking to gain experience in the funeral service industry. The funeral assistant's job is to assist the funeral director with conducting funerals. 

Skills & Qualifications: 
  • Must have a valid BC driver’s license
  • Candidates should possess a high school diploma
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or greater without difficulty
  • Must be computer literate and possess Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written
  • Maintain high ethical and confidentiality standards
  • Criminal records check
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Clean and drive funeral vehicles such as cars or hearses in funeral processions 
  • Greeting guests and distributing memorial cards
  • Operating the audio & video equipment
  • Carry flowers to hearse or limousines for transportation to places of interment
  • Vacuum and clean chapel after service
  • Perform general maintenance duties for funeral home
  • Perform a variety of tasks during funerals to ensure that services run smoothly and as planned
  • Assist as a pallbearer when needed
  • Assisting with visitations, memorial and funeral services 
  • Responsible for visitation and chapel set-up and clean-up
  • Other duties as assigned by Management, such as transfers to the crematorium
Please note this position is mobile, meaning that work may take place at our Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam properties, in addition to various churches and venues.
